Rev. Philip A. Tracy, Pastor

Father Phil

I am the eldest of John and Olympia Tracy’s five boys. I grew up in South Portland and graduated from Cheverus High School in 1980. I received an undergraduate degree in Religious Studies and Philosophy from Bates College, and my pontifical degree in Theology from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C.

Following my ordination to the priesthood in May of 1988, I have served the Diocese in a variety of ministerial experiences. I have been a parochial vicar in Winslow, Rockland and Bangor. I served as the pastor for the communities of St Francis, St. John and the Allagash. In addition, I was the Catholic Chaplain at the Maine State Prison when it was in Thomaston, and served as the Catholic Chaplain for Bates and Bowdoin Colleges.

I arrived in the Greater Waterville Area in July of 1998 as the second pastor of the Parish of the Holy Spirit. In the succeeding years I have been privileged to guide the area communities of faith in the New Evangelization, culminating in 2007 with the formation of Corpus Christi Parish. I am also the Catholic Chaplain for Colby College, the chaplain for the Waterville and Winslow Fire Departments, the Dean of Kennebec and Somerset Counties, and the State Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus. In my “spare time” I enjoy golfing, watching sports and reading. I believe that my priesthood is a true calling from God. I have never asked to go where I have been assigned, and I have never wanted to leave once I was there. I am grateful for the many parishioners and friends that have helped guide me on my pilgrim way.
