Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word. Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213
Families who would like to have their child baptized need to meet with a parish staff member and attend a Baptism Preparation Session before scheduling the Baptism. Please call the Parish Office, 872-2281, to begin this process.
At the initial meeting you will get a brief overview of the process and complete all required paperwork. Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate to this meeting. The theology of Baptism and what will happen at the ceremony are both covered in the Baptism Preparation Session. Babies are welcome at both meetings!
The Baptism Checklist in the sidebar will walk you through the steps needed to complete the Baptismal Preparation Program here at Corpus Christi Parish. Please note the section on Choosing Godparents to see the role of Godparents and the Church requirements.
Baptisms usually take place on Saturday at 1:30PM at Notre Dame in Waterville or on Sunday at 11:30AM at St. John in Winslow.
For more information or to begin the Baptismal Preparation Process please call the Parish Office: 872-2281.
